ABOUT AMAI’S MAGIC:
Amai’s Magic was born in 2008, when I was transported from my life in Southern Africa to the Great Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, USA. I was brought to these magical mountains to live, to work, to study, and to heal myself from the trauma, pain, grief & disbelief that my beloved 30+year marriage had gradually dissolved before my eyes. I was called to bathe in the necessity to tend to my own personal & spiritual healing as a way to move my life forward. It was the most difficult transition in my life thus far. Yet, it was this need that fueled the creation of Amai’s Magic as the new platform for me to continue to grow and to work, drawn from my own personal experience and spiritual knowledge – to reflect all I had learned and gathered during my decade of being in Africa, and to follow the divine directive I’d been given by Spirit to ‘go forth and teach’ what I had learned.
A decade later, Amai’s Magic was moved forward as an international ministry in personal healing & transformation, grounded in the teachings of Ancestral Wisdom Thru Dance, Ritual & Storytelling.
ABOUT AMAI:
Known as Myrna Clarice Munchus-Bullock for most of my adult life, in the millennial year 2000, a year after the close of the historic & life-altering Interfaith Pilgrimage of the Middle Passage: Retracing the Journey of Slavery (1998-1999), I emerged as “Amai, one who is like my mother’s mother,” (in the MaShona language of the Shona peoples of Zimbabwe). The Pilgrimage, a spiritual journey of Ancestral Homage, Initiation, and Ordination, transformed me from a concert performing artist & teacher with a life-long career in dance, into a seeker of spiritual knowledge, ancestral wisdom, and universal law. The Pilgrimage was my first big shamanic experience, and it represents my initiation onto a spiritual path I had never imagined. I was ordained by my Vodoun Ancestors in Ouidah, Benin, West Africa, as taino, one who leads the people in prayer. It also led me to an eight-year residence & humanitarian service on the Continent, the fulfillment of a life-long goal to live & work in Africa. With my former husband, I co-founded a peace & social justice ministry, SpiritWalkers; & co-initiated a second pilgrimage experience, The International African AIDS Pilgrimage: A Walk for Global Healing (2003-2005), during which I conceived the healing dance process, Movement for the Soul, while working with people living with HIV/AIDS, in Southern Africa. Upon my return to the U.S. in 2008, I immersed myself in the study of shamanic consciousness, my personal & spiritual healing, and developed my sacred dance process, all during my tenure at the Venus Rising Association for Transformation.
I’ve lived in spiritual pilgrimage for over two decades, in 22 countries, on four continents of the world. Amai, Butterfly Dancing Heart, Soaring Eagle, Changing Woman, serves the world as a Cultural & Spiritual Activist, Educator, Ritual Performance Artist & Speaker, and Shamanic Minister & Priest(ess) in a variety of dynamic classes, workshops & community residencies; in ritual & ceremony; transformative shamanic journeys, and Amai’s Magic: Movement for the Soul Sacred Dance Process.
It brings me great joy and satisfies my highest path and purpose to assist individuals & communities to move from where they are to where they’re headed. It also allows me to practice the essence of my work … ‘Growing Into My Soul.’
